These two woman are so much fun!? I literally chirped when they texted me to ask if I would photograph their gender reveal.
I’ve seen cakes before, but balloons are a fun and messy (the way I like it) way to find out gender.? And it was just the two of them (three if you count me, four if you count the child). They updated family later that evening – holding onto the joy and surprise to themselves for a few hours.
It was my job to run down to the car when they stopped by on their way home from the ultrasound and take possession of the sealed envelope.? And they also gave me a balloon kit?and a few smoke bombs to pack for their shoot the next day.? I took my job very seriously.? Note, in the image below, that the balloon rode in the passenger seat for safety.
The engineer and I opted to wait for the birth of our child, so we could meet this new person with no expectations.? In retrospect, it also helped keep us in a bit of stasis while we held on to our lovely twosome and prepared mentally and emotionally to become parents.? Each family makes the decision that works for them.
No matter what our children will challenge our assumptions.? They will walk their own path.
