Glen Magna Farms Wedding Photography

April 19, 2016

Oh my goodness, where do I start! Absolutely amazing, cried all over again! I don?t know how you do it.

HOW WE connected

I photographed the groom?s sister?s Boston City Hall Wedding years ago – and then again the groom?s cousin?s wedding at Willowdale Estate a few years later.
Last fall, for their Boston engagement portraits, we hiked into the woods together.  Katie and Mike are so at ease with each other, and so comfortable, they are always a joy to spend time with and to photograph.

The estate is gorgeous and the wedding these two planned fit perfectly into the beauty and design of the grounds.

Now it was Mike?s turn, who married his high school sweetheart, Katie, at the beautiful Glen Magna Farms, an historic estate just north of Boston in Danvers. The estate and it?s grounds transport you to a grand past, and you can imagine walking the carriage road as a perfect beginning to a storied romance. All in all, it was an elegant garden party, unfussy and easy which slowly grew into the all out dance party I was expecting.

FIRST LOOK

The Beech tree at Glen Magna was chosen for the location of the first look.  Mike stood under the branches, waiting for Katie to walk up.  Emotions ran high and were contagious.  We did the first look under the beech tree and then walked through the estate, the gardens and the carriage road – which is a beautiful location to take the always classic walking together portraits.

OUTDOOR CEREMONY AT GLEN MAGNA FARMS

One of my favorite things about this wedding was witnessing the bride as she watched from her room in the mansion as her friends and family walked across the lawn and were seated for the ceremony. ?

Shades of fall (sangria, aubergine, grape) made up the row of bridesmaids? dresses. The groom and his groomsmen held it down and dapper in traditional black tuxes.
The ceremony was a fairly formal (if you include laughter) and they were celebrating at a historic landmark.  But it was a casual one, outside in the garden.  And the garden was the perfect setting to walk down the aisle with her father.

WEDDING RECEPTION AT GLEN MAGNA FARMS

Some weddings you know are going to unwind into crazy dance parties.  Having met most of the groom?s family before – I knew this was the case.  And they did not disappoint.  I already knew how much I loved the groom?s family – and the bride?s side was as warm and wonderful and full of love.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs!  It was an epic day of friends and family, smiles and hugs that ended with beats and beads (of sweat) on the dance floor.  It’s the kind of day I love to witness. The kind of day I an honored to be a part of documenting.  The kind of day that reinforces a beautiful love story.
