In keeping with the family portraits theme this week, I’d like to share a few documentary style family portraits from a visit with friends and former clients Sam and Isabel. They were married a few years ago (see images from their New Jersey Jewish Colombian wedding here) and welcomed their daughter last fall.
A perfect three month old, happily enjoying our company and snuggles while we dined on one of her father’s famous dinners.
Window light in the nursery made for this dramatic lighting. Environmental portraiture is a beautiful alternative to studio portraits. As a photographer I can use the setting to tell this family’s story in a personal way.
Much of the family photography I do is based on milestones – newborn, first birthdays, first communions, graduations, etc. But sometimes a snowy Monday can be the perfect time to settle in for a little portrait session and a visit with old friends.
Three months is a great age to photograph. And this little girl had one brief moment of fuss before she settled into what seemed to be her naturally happy disposition.
