Inspired in Portland Maine

February 16, 2015

A remembrance of all things Hampshire and Ad Hoc.  To cooperatively run spaces!  To making new friends indoors with a beer on a winter day!

A few images from last week’s Inspire Photo Retreat in Portland, Maine.  The morning before the conference officially began, we discovered a little breakfast spot. I fell instantly in love with Sprouts Local, the cooperatively run cafe and catering company.  The food was excellent, and the cafe was charming.  Seasonal, local, delicious.  All of the things one wants to find after a long car ride and a cold morning stroll to find coffee.

I had arrived early to take Doug Levy’s Commercial and Portrait Intensive.  Our afternoon assignment was to make some editorial portraits of people in Portland.  Obviously, I went right back to Sprouts for lunch.  The owners were wonderful, and let me photograph my lunch and make a portrait or two describing their place.

And a few portraits of the valets at the hotel, valiantly keeping up with 200 photographers checking in at once, as the snow steadily flaked down.

Maine! Why not head north when things get snowy?
